In November, The Mildmay Club hosted a lovely afternoon event. The author of Watership Down, Richard Adams has had a plaque installed at his former home near Canonbury Station and to celebrate the unveiling, family, friends, publishers and community leaders met at the Club to watch students of Newington Green Primary School read and perform scenes from Watership Down. Children’s author S.F. Said – author of Varjak Paw – also spoke of the influence of Adams on this own work. Thanks to everyone involved, especially Penguin Random House Publisher & KT Forester Literary Agency, Jeremy Corbyn, Newington Green Primary School and Lizzy’s on the Green for the delicious cucumber sandwiches!
