Typically, at this time of year we would be doing renewals of membership.  Sadly, the current COVID-19 restrictions mean that meeting face to face to take membership dues is not going to be possible for the foreseeable future.

We want to both find a way for those who want to renew now to do so and to recognise that the Club has, due to the pandemic restrictions, been closed and out of use.

We have been looking at renewals and fees and been in touch with both the CIU and other clubs.

The good news is when we do reopen the closedown has given us a chance to have extensive work done on our snooker hall and it has undergone a fantastic renovation. We will post pictures on the website to tempt you back in due course.

To recognise the Club having been closed the committee has agreed three months free membership for everyone in 2021 so you will only pay for 9 months of the year – the subs for 2021 will be £20 not £30.  In addition, members who were unable to renew in 2020 and lapsed will be able to re-join at the £20 rate for this year only.  We are continuing to actively fundraise and if you would like to make a donation to the club you can do so at:

We are very aware that continuity of membership is important for those who want to be active in the Club and we can reassure you that the reduced membership fee this year does not affect your continuity of membership. If you were due to have two years membership and were for example thinking of standing for committee, you still can.

The practical challenge that we face is how we collect the £20 membership for 2021 when our doors are still shut, and we have come up with the following three options:

1. Online by bank transfer to A/c: 65930131 Sort code: 08-92-99. You may be asked the name of our bank, name of payee and type of account.  Our bank is the Co-operative Bank PLC. Our account is a business account in the name “Mildmay Club and Institute Limited”.  Please note: The Co-Op doesn’t yet offer “Confirmation of Payee” but intends to do so in the future. Therefore your (sending) bank may give you a message like this:

“The account you are trying to pay doesn’t allow us to check if the details are correct.”

Please  note this is not a fault of either bank involved, but please double check the sort code and account number is as requested above.

Please put your membership number and surname in the payment reference, and make one transfer per membership renewal if you are a multiple membership household.

 2. By posting a cheque made payable to the “Mildmay Club and Institute Limited” through the door of the Club in a sealed envelope with your name address and membership number (not your book, we can stamp those when we reopen).

The Club address for those who wish to post rather than drop off their renewal the Club’s address is Membership Secretary c/o The Mildmay Club, 33-34 Newington Green London N169PR

3. Waiting until the week commencing 17th May and seeing where we are with reopening. If we are not open by then the two options above will still be available and you will need to renew your membership at a future renewals session to remain a member.

We will stamp your book and issue your 2021 year card when we reopen.
